On Thursday 20th February Lions Welcomed Sophie Wellumayes and her dog Hope from the Headway Charity. Sophie spoke enthusiastically about the work of the charity in prisons, with the probation service and with residents in care homes where Hope and the other dogs from the charity are central to the therapy needs of their clients. Hope treated us to a display of remarkable obedience that was the envy of many of the dog-owners watching, focusing completely on Sophie, undistracted by what was going on around her. Jonathan Pearce spoke for everyone when he commented on the remarkable work of the charity and thanked her for an evening that was both enjoyable and informative.
On 9th January Lion Tony Wass represented the Club presenting the Stowmarket branch of HCPT with a cheque for £1,000 to help fund a trip taking children on a pilgrimage to Lourdes at Easter. The cheque was received on behalf of HCPT by Simon Millyard (pictured).
On 16th January a number of Lions and their other halves visited Suez (the Incinerator at Claydon, not the canal!) and had an enjoyable and informative evening.
