Stowmarket Lions are still work for the community in 2021. If you need help just ask via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are still helping local residents by picking up their prescriptions and delivering to their door. Most surgeries have their own delivery network, but some don’t offer this service themselves. So we step up to help.
We had a fantastic time along with Santa at the Stowmarket food bank just before Christmas, but with the lockdown getting more restrictive they will need our and your help for some time.
It is with regret that we have to postpone the following events :
Lions Boxing postponed until October/November. Date to be advised.
Lions Bike Ride postponed from June 2020 until June 2021
Lion Golf challenge – cancelled for this year.
We have been constantly monitoring the news and feel that we need to pull both of these events at the time scheduled. This is due to the timing of the impending peak of the outbreak of the Corona Virus (Covid-19).
The Lions club of Stowmarket and District take the impact of holding events on our club and on the general public seriously. We have made these decisions based on a number of criteria.

On Thursday 20th February Lions Welcomed Sophie Wellumayes and her dog Hope from the Headway Charity. Sophie spoke enthusiastically about the work of the charity in prisons, with the probation service and with residents in care homes where Hope and the other dogs from the charity are central to the therapy needs of their clients. Hope treated us to a display of remarkable obedience that was the envy of many of the dog-owners watching, focusing completely on Sophie, undistracted by what was going on around her. Jonathan Pearce spoke for everyone when he commented on the remarkable work of the charity and thanked her for an evening that was both enjoyable and informative.
