Lions Club – thank Stowmarket

We would like to wish all residents of Stowmarket and District a happy New Year.

We had another good year with the re-furnished sleigh on the run up to Christmas. In total we raised nearly £8,000 for our nominated good causes. Considering how difficult the economy had become this means the people of Stowmarket and district have been very generous. We thank you for your wonderful comments, and kind donations.

Santa works wonders in Needham Market

Stowmarket and district Lions club responded to a request from the family of a 2-year girl in Needham Market who is suffering from Leukaemia and currently undergoing treatment, asking for the Lions club sleigh to stop outside their house as this would make her Christmas. Santa did as she asked and stopped by. So moved by this story the Lions club of Stowmarket asked if there is anything they could do to help them. Her mum and dad explained that they are in need of a cuddle type chair for her room as she frequently wakes in the night, and it would make such a difference to them. Santa with the help of his little helpers from the Stowmarket and district Lions club straight away arranged for one to be delivered on Friday 23rd December.

This and other similar causes are where your kind donations are going to so when you get a knock on the door with Santa’s little helpers rattling their tins on a very cold night, smile and think of those you are helping, Thank you

The family have agreed to allow us to use this story:

“Etta wasn’t able to see Father Christmas due to her being neutropenic (no immune system) but after an email to the Stowmarket Lions Club they arranged Father Christmas to stop outside on his rounds so she could meet him on his sleigh. It was absolutely magical Etta was extremely excited and it made our year.

The Stowmarket Lions Club emailed us after and offered to help us , they’ve offered to purchase a armchair/sofa bed for Etta’s room to enable us to cuddle her and be close throughout the long nights of sickness and medications.

We can’t thank them enough! “
