Visit to Bawdsey Radar

This month’s social took Lions and their wives and partners to Bawdsey to visit the new exhibition in the wartime Transmitter Building.  Having been extensively re-furbished the building now houses a new, interactive exhibition charting the development of radar, so vital to the outcome of the Second World War.

Charter Dinner 2019

On 5th October, members of the Lions Club of Stowmarket and District gathered with their guests and friends to celebrate the Club’s 39 Charter Anniversary.  The president’s guests on were the District Governor of 105CE, Lion Gurcharan Manku and the Mayor of Stowmarket, Paul Ekpenyong.  Visiting Lion and responding to the toast on behalf of the guests was Lion Malcolm Collins of Filey Lions Club.

An excellent meal was followed by music and dancing to “Pea Green” rounding off a great evening enjoyed by all.

Welcome Lion President Kevin

Stowmarket Lions welcome their new President for 2019-2020.  Kevin Parker took over the chain of office at the end of June and introduced his new team, which includes some who have been members of the Club for some years as well as some of the newer members.  All are keen to get on with the job of providing unmatched community service in and around Stowmarket.

This is Kevin’s second term as President, having previously held the office in 2014.  He has also previously been Fundraising Chairman and instrumental in helping the Club achieve the milestone £1,000,000 total raised since it was formed in 1980.
